Large Silver Appleyard Drake
Large Silver Appleyards in their first year (above). The drake is changing to his eclipse plumage so he is not looking his smartest. They are similar in size and shape to the Rouen Clair, the only major colour difference is that they have Restricted Mallard colour pattern genes instead of the normal Wild Mallard pattern of the Rouen Clair.
This is a non standard colour, but very attractive. As with other blue ducks, they only possess one copy of the blue gene.
Two copies of blue would turn them into the butterscotch colour seen in call ducks, and I am working towards breeding butterscotch appleyards eventually. Watch this space!
